In November of 2019, the voters of Colorado legalized sports gambling in their state via referendum. What comes next remains to be seen as, while sports betting is now legal and regulated, sportsbooks have yet to be licensed.
State regulators are looking for a launch in May of 2020, but this remains to be seen. What we do know is two-fold. For one, sportsbooks will be available online as well as in brick and mortar establishments.
And secondly, there will be a lot of competition in the state for your sports gambling dollar as Colorado has not instituted many restrictions on the availability of their sportsbook licenses.
State-wide Brick and Mortar Sportsbooks
As mentioned, there are no sportsbooks up and running in Colorado as of yet. That said, there are major plans to bring sports gambling state-wide in a big way.
There are already three sportsbooks built in the mountain cities of Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek. DraftKings has already announced plans for a brick and mortar operation as well.
Of course, this means you are sure to see FanDuel not far behind. And there’s more where that came from too.
While there is no requirement to have a brick and mortar sportsbook to operate online as well, many providers are doing just that.
Available Betting Apps in Colorado
All of Colorado’s sports betting industry, online or on land, is still pending launch, so there are no betting apps available as of yet.
However, just as with the state-wide brick and mortar sportsbooks in construction as of this writing, so are the online sportsbooks. The state would like for the entire operation to be up and running by May of 2020. However, only time will tell if any of the sportsbooks, online or on land, are ready by that time.
Best Bonuses and Promotions
While we do not know exactly what any of the sportsbooks’ bonus and promotions programs will look like as of yet, we do know there will be plenty of competition in the state. This is very good news for players looking to take advantage of bonuses and promotions.
As we’ve seen in states such as New Jersey, plenty of competition brings plenty of sportsbook bonuses and promotions.
Sports Available for Betting
Much like the bonuses and promotions, the sports available for betting in Colorado promises to be competitive as well. This is another avenue sportsbooks use to entice players into their sportsbook door, whether virtual or brick and mortar.
Of course, all of the popular sports will be available, but watch for some sportsbook attempt to stand out from the pack with more exotic and international offerings.
Of course, not much information is available as of yet concerning the payment options available in Colorado. However, again thanks to plenty of competition, look for sportsbooks to make the entire process as quick and easy as possible.
Legal Betting Age
The legal sports gambling age in Colorado is 21 years old, whether in an online or on-land sportsbook.
