Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the PASPA, Mississippi was one of the first states to begin taking legal sports wagers in 2018. The state was able to do this quite easily too. Especially when compared to other states.
Sports betting was specifically prohibited by state law, so all that was required once the PASPA was overturned was to appeal the old law. Just like that, two brick and mortar casinos were taking legal wagers a few months later.

Available Betting Apps
For now, all legal sports betting in Mississippi is limited to in-person betting at brick and mortar establishments. That said, there are a few sportsbooks that offer downloadable apps.
However, these apps are only able to be used on the property of the casino/sportsbook. Outside of these types of apps, the only other online sportsbooks available in Mississippi are of the off-shore variety.
While legal sports gambling is not available online in Mississippi, this could change one day with the right legislation. In fact, there has been legislation doing just that appear in the statehouse.
However, there hasn’t been enough forward movement on the matter to predict when and if legal online sports betting could become a reality.
Best Bonuses and Promotions
The only bonuses and promotions available in Mississippi are available directly from the individual sportsbooks and vary from season to season, sport to sport, sportsbook to sportsbook. Fortunately, there are plenty of sportsbooks in the state, and many are located near each other.
This creates plenty of competition for your gambling dollar, and the bonuses and promotions reflect this.
Sports Available for Betting
While sportsbooks are free to dictate which sports to offer its customers, we’ve noticed the sportsbooks of Mississippi keep their offerings very traditional. Also, because this is SEC football country, NCAA football and the NFL are their major draws and receive plenty of focus in sportsbooks.

- Basketball (NBA, WNBA, NCAAM)
- Baseball (MLB and NCAA)
- Hockey (NHL)
- Soccer (MLS, Premier League, World Cup)
- Combat Sports (UFC and Boxing)
- Golf (PGA, LPGA)
- Auto Sports (F-1, NASCAR)
Cash, debit cards, and credit cards are all accepted at all Mississippi sportsbooks. Players have the option of using a kiosk or live-tellers to place and pay for wagers.
Specialty prepaid cards are also available at some Mississippi sportsbooks as well.
