Arkansas became the ninth state in the union to legalize sports gambling for its citizens shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the PASPA. While the state was quick to bring about the proper legislation to make this happen, it is important to note just how limited the Arkansas sports gambling industry is.
After all, there is only one sportsbook operating in the state, and there is no online option available as of yet.
Statewide Brick and Mortar Sportsbooks
Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort in Hot Springs opened for business July 1, 2019, and is the only sportsbook operating in the state as of this writing. Southland Gaming and Racing has also won a state license but has not opened for business as their buildout continues.
Available Betting Apps
Online sports gambling apps are not yet available in Arkansas. This may take some time, too, as there is no launch date set or substantial legislation pending in the statehouse.
That said, Oaklawn and the state are already prepping for the day online sports gambling eventually comes. Oaklawn is working on an online app available that would allow players access to the sportsbook but only while on its premises.
Best Bonuses and Promotions
The only bonuses and sports betting promotions available in Arkansas will be made available directly from the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort sportsbook and will vary from season to season, sport to sport.
Sports Available for Betting
As you can tell, the sports gambling industry in Arkansas is rather limited. With nothing to offer online players and only one sportsbook up and running, trying to get a bet down in Razorback country is very difficult. That said, the sportsbook in Oaklawn is a fine offering with plenty of sports available for betting. It offers all the popular stateside sports as well as international fare including:
- Football (NFL and NCAAF)
- Basketball (NBA, WNBA, NCAAM)
- Baseball (MLB and NCAA)
- Hockey (NHL)
- Soccer (MLS, Premier League, World Cup)
- Combat Sports (UFC and Boxing)
- Golf (PGA, LPGA)
- Auto Sports (F-1, NASCAR)
- Olympics, World Cup Events
Cash, debit cards, and credit cards are all accepted at the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort sportsbook. Players have the option of using a kiosk or live teller to place and pay for wagers.
Legal Betting Age
While anyone over the age of 18 is allowed to play the lottery or the greyhounds in the state of Arkansas, you must be over 21 to enter and play at any racetrack, casino, or sportsbook.
